Poker has been a male-dominated game for many years and going by the recent statistics, all the top ten slots of the best poker players are occupied by men. This does not mean that women have sat back and resigned to the idea of being dominated by men. They are always ready to fearlessly face any kind of opponents. Some pro women have even gone to the extent of outdoing their pro male counterparts in many occasions. 2017 is promising to be an eventful year in the world of poker. There are several tournaments and events that have been lined up for a year as usually dominated by the uttermost famous World Series Of Poker 2017. High-flying women players are expected to grace these events. These are the 3 poker women that we should look at in 2017.
1. Vanessa Selbst
Vanessa Selbst is simply the best in this field. It is with no doubt that she is the best female poker player that America has ever had and maybe will ever have. Her track record in this game speaks for itself. Vanessa has won major poker tournaments such as Partouche Poker Tour, North American Poker Tour and has also won two World Series of poker bracelets. In addition to these titles, Selbst has been in two World Poker Tour finals. Going by her recent success record, 2017 seems to be a promising year for Vanessa Selbst and definitely she will be on the spotlight.
2. Kathy Liebert
Kathy Liebert has been in the game for over two decades and she does not look like she is going to hang her boots any time soon. She still looks hungry for success and this makes her one of the poker women to look at in 2017. Liebert has managed to collect over $6 prize money though most of her prolific wins took place during the first ten years of her career in poker. Her biggest win took place in the year 2002 when she bagged Party Poker money cruise. She is still active participating in the regular poker tournaments. Who knows, 2017 may be her year.
3. Maria Ho
Reading Maria Ho interview on Review and Play, I realised that the 1983 born poker player is another face that should not be ignored. She is still fresh and has a burning desire to win major tournaments. She dived into the poker waters 10 years ago during the World Series of Poker main Event where she went home with some good cash. During the event, Maria Ho was the last woman standing and overall she was ranked 38th out of almost 7000 players. She finished second in the 2011 No Limit Hold’em event and this was her biggest win ever. Maria has accumulated over $3.0 million in all poker events, live and online, and this figure is expected to go up in 2017.
